Location:  High River, AB (only 35 Kms South of Calgary)

Our client sells a wide variety of canola brands through their 250 Ag retails across Canada, including InVigor, DeKalb, and their own proprietary brand; Proven Seed. As the Canola Product Line Manager, you will work very closely with the Seed Production Manager and the Proven Seed Brand Manager as you drive the canola business.

There are two broad parts to this job. Sourcing the canola seed; and selling the canola seed through the Nutrien retails in Canada.

Sourcing: You will source inventory in two ways: First, you will collaborate with the Canola Seed Production Manager who will grow and process your proprietary Proven varieties. Second, you will buy seed from suppliers like BASF and Bayer for resale through 250 Nutrien retail branches across Canada. This requires demand forecasting, market analysis, variety selection, long term planning, and inventory management.

Selling: The second part of the job is to collaborate with the Brand Manager and the nine Retail Division Managers to drive the sale of canola seed through 250 Nutrien Ag retail outlets across Canada. You will aggregate their orders, forecast demand, and supply them with inventory. You will support their sales efforts by providing marketing support, pricing guidance, inventory advice and product knowledge.

This position is a Head Office job that supervises two staff and requires only minimal travel.

To be considered, you must understand Canadian crop production agriculture, AND how agricultural crop inputs products are purchased wholesale and sold retail. You must have at least four years (preferably more) of related Ag business experience. Note: even though canola specific experience, AG retail experience and people management experience is a an asset, it is not a deal breaker.
