NOTE: This position has been filled.
Our client is a very well-established agronomic research company with five locations spanning the three prairie provinces, and all the western Canadian soil zones. They do a wide range of small plot research trials for seed breeding companies and crop input companies. They require a crop RESEARCHER to conduct their Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) research trials in Taber Alberta.
As the GLP RESEARCHER you will conduct approximately twenty residue trials (a.k.a. GLP compliant environmental fate trials). These trials will generate the high-quality trustworthy samples and data your clients require to get their crop protection products registered.
Your duties will include equipment verification and calibration, preseason planning, field preparation, plot seeding, in-season product applications, sample collection, data collection, extensive record keeping, plot harvesting, reporting, and summer student training and supervision.
Note: GLP research differs from other small plot research in that record keeping is more meticulous and a comprehensive set of Standard Operating Procedures must be followed. Accurate real-time record keeping is vital because notes can’t be written from memory; and the assumption is that if it’s not documented it didn’t happen. Quality Assurance audits are done on a regular basis.
To be considered for the GLP RESEARCHER position you must have good agronomic knowledge and a detail-oriented personality. An appreciation for the importance of neatness, cross contamination and parts-per-million is required. Our ideal candidate has an AG degree and has operated a tractor, seeder, sprayer and combine. We will teach you the “Good Laboratory Practices” required to meet the stringent GLP research protocols. Previous small plot research experience is a definite asset but not a deal breaker. Only applicants who are currently eligible to work in Canada will be considered.
This employer looks after their people. They provide the training, tools, and support needed to excel and develop.
LOCATION: You must live or relocate to within commuting distance to Taber Alberta. That includes the area around Lethbridge, Vauxhall, Bow Island, Warner, Wrentham, Barnwell, Fincastle, Cranford, Chin, Tempest, Purple Springs, Grassy Lake, Broxburn and Coaldale.
