Our client is one of the most prominent seed and pesticide companies on the planet. Their canola varieties are world class. They require an Agronomy Manager to lead the team that manages their canola variety development and advancement field trials in Manitoba.
As the new Field Operations Manager for their Canola Breeding Program, you and your team will plan and execute the field research program in Manitoba. You will generate data used for variety advancement and registration. During the growing season, you and your team will be responsible for: coordinating testing locations, establishing lease agreements with producers/cooperators, seedbed preparation, seeding of plots, maintaining the trials and sites, gathering in-season phenotypic data, harvesting the canola plots and processing the seed samples.
To be considered for this hands-on position, you must have strong prairie based agronomic expertise and at least 5 years of small plot research experience. Preference will be given to applicants who have planned and coordinated field research in the past. You will supervise and mentor a motivated team of agronomists and summer students, so experience managing and developing people is a definite asset. A related bachelor’s degree is required.
