Our client is the fourth largest seed breeding company in the world. Their Canadian business focusses on the Hybrid Rye market. They are by far the dominant player in the hybrid rye sector. There is huge growth potential for both, their Canadian business and the people who work there. We are looking for an agricultural MARKETING SPECIALIST to be the sixth person to join this tight knit, collaborative, Canadian team. You will have the resources of a huge global company to draw upon, while enjoying the autonomy and broad job responsibilities only found in a start up. Very Exciting!
As the Marketing Specialist you will have three main marketing responsibilities. First is to increase general brand awareness in Canada. Second is to provide marketing tools and support to the sales team and the retailers who sell their hybrid rye varieties to farmers; and third, is to educate Canadian farmers about the benefits of growing fall rye, and the specifics of their superior hybrid product line. For example: Their hybrid varieties yield 30% better than traditional rye varieties. Fall rye is sustainable because it requires less rain and less fertilizer than most other crops. Rye is seeded in the fall, and harvested early, so there are farm labour, equipment, and crop rotation scheduling advantages. Having this many great messages is a Marketing Specialist’s dream.
Our ideal candidate is a marketing expert with Canadian agriculture industry experience. You must understand Canadian farmers. To be considered you must have enough agricultural marketing experience to be able to make a significant contribution when the strategic marketing plan is being created and tactical priorities are being considered. That said, you must also be comfortable doing hands-on tactical execution of that marketing plan. This is a huge global company with lots of international AG marketing expertise to draw on. You will become the marketing expert in Canada.
