Crop Research Station Manager

Location: Taber / Lethbridge Alberta Area

Our client is a very well-established agronomic research company with five locations spanning the three prairie provinces, and all the western Canadian soil zones. They do a wide range of small plot research trials for seed breeding companies and crop input companies. They require a leader with small plot research experience to manage their research station near Taber Alberta.

As the new Manager of the Taber Research Station, you will have two main responsibilities. The first is providing high quality research services to your clients. You and your team will plan and execute small plot research trials. These trials will generate the high-quality trustworthy data your clients require to make decisions about product commercialization and variety advancement. 

Your second responsibility will be to lead your team, (three to four full time and four or more seasonal staff). It’s an experienced group and there is lots of support. You will foster a culture of cooperation and respect. You will reinforce the importance of safety, integrity, and quality; all the while watching for ways to optimize your operation and become more efficient.

To be considered for the Station Manager position you must have at least five years of small plot research experience from work or university. You will be the Team Leader, so experience managing people or a proven track record in a leadership role is critical. 

The Taber research station is under irrigation, so an understanding of irrigation agronomy is a definite asset. Preference will be given to applicants who have a related degree and some level of project management or business management experience.
