JOB TITLE: Western Prairies Territory Manager
Location: Southern Alberta – Home Office
Our client (KWS) is the fourth-largest seed breeding company in the world. Their Canadian business focusses on the Hybrid Rye market. They are by far the dominant player in the hybrid rye sector. There is huge growth potential for their Canadian business and the people who work there. Very exciting. We are looking for a sales agronomist with a customer service personality to become their WESTERN PRAIRIES TERRITORY MANAGER.
Their hybrid varieties yield 30% better than traditional rye varieties. Fall rye is sustainable because it requires less rain and less fertilizer than most other crops. Rye is seeded in the fall, and harvested early, so there are farm labour, equipment, and crop rotation scheduling advantages.
As the new WESTERN PRAIRIES TERRITORY MANAGER, you will have two broad responsibilities. First, you will educate and support seed dealers and farmers. You will provide customer service and training to your seed dealers, and you will provide agronomic support and market information to your rye growers to ensure they have a good experience. Second, you will take every opportunity to grow demand for rye in your local downstream market. You will build relationships with grain companies, brokers, ethanol producers and the animal feed buyers. Most rye is sold as a feed grain, so your ability to talk to cattle feeders and hog producers is a definite asset. Most of your time will be spent in Southern Alberta with occasional trips into Southern BC and Southwestern Saskatchewan.
Our ideal candidate is a collaborative communicator with experience selling to prairie AG Retails and prairie farmers. To be considered you must have Western Canadian broadacre agronomic experience and some kind of livestock related experience. You believe that grower retention and long-term business growth depends on providing great customer service and building solid long-term relationships.
Our client is a family-owned company that is committed to their people, R & D, and the Canadian market. You will be part of a small Canadian collaborative team that enjoys access to the agronomic support, advanced genetics, sales tools, and marketing support of a large international company. You will influence the marketing strategy in Western Canada.
Location: Home based in Southern Alberta. Lethbridge or Calgary are acceptable.
